With the aging process, it is common for the upper arms to lose their elasticity and firmness, resulting in a less-than-satisfactory physique and fewer wardrobe choices. Significant weight loss and genetics can also play a role in compromising the upper body’s appearance.
How is an arm lift performed?
Arm lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia or sedation. Dr. Arroyo will go over your anesthesia options during your private consultation. Rest assured, you will be completely comfortable and at ease during your procedure.
An incision is made on the underside of the upper arm, with the precise length of the incision determined by the degree of laxity to be addressed. The scar typically stretches from the armpit to the elbow. Dr. Arroyo will then remove excess fat and skin, tighten the underlying supportive tissue, and insert the sutures that will hold your changes in place. If needed, he will apply liposuction to the area as well. Once done, Dr. Arroyo will wrap the area in a compression bandage to help reduce postoperative swelling.
